The day finally arrived. after ironing out some of the last minute technical issues – thanks Davey and Tom for sterling work at the desks – we were ready to go. We hadn’t had time to check costumes, but I was very pleased that everyone looked great on the night! In fact, I have to say that all the cast looked immaculate not only on the performance night, but at every rehearsal too! This generation know how to look dapper at early morning rehearsals, which is why I knew I could trust their choice of outfits!
We shared a lunch at The Brink, and everyone seemed very cool; if there were nerves they weren’t on display – apart from me who couldnt eat!.
After a last minute sound check and warm up, it was up to the greenroom and then down to take palces on stage and watch as the cinema gradually filled up with faces familiar and faces new.
Excitement mounted and we were off – everything went perfectly! The audience laughed, the audience clapped every song and every story – no one forgot their lines and the effect with lights, sound and the visuals on screen was stunning!
I wouldnt like to single out anyone’s performance – they were all marvellous. I had a big lump in my throat at the final moments.
It was over so fast – and then we were all delighted about the response and positive comments from the visitors.
Poor Emily and Caroline weren’t able to watch the show as they were busy setting up the recepetion downstairs – wine flowed, flowers and cards exchanged, photos, interviews,
hugs and tears …. the magic of theatre!

Like you said I was tearing up at the end too. Those songs were great and I still have them stuck in my head!
